Looking Back at the 2005-2006 Season
May 28, 2006

A dizzying 101 performances. Fewer highs, lows, new works (though still impressive: I saw 22). Seemingly larger audiences. Good year for kids; not bad for musicals. Abundant local talent (especially leading men; designers with budgets), but still wishing for more directors with clearer vision. Followspot now averages 180 visits daily.

(My apologies for this showing up under Theater District...bit hungover)

Loved Faust. Us.(2.0), Bug, City Of Gold, Afterschool Girlfight Kill Kill, Assassins. Some other very good stuff this year, but these shows stood out.

Glad to see you are getting more hits a day. This site has been a great conversation during many a post-show 'whine' and beer fest. Thanks!

I also saw 22 of these shows. My favorites: A Year with Frog and Toad and The Full Monty. Gotta love Leif Norby.
