Cirque du Soleil
March 18, 2006; closes April 16, 2006
A packaged product now; a guilty pleasure. But Cirque also has a sense of showmanship and perfection of craft that local theatre could take lessons from. Flying men were hot; clowns were the best yet; some other special effects stunning. Less mystery than previous shows, but just as much magic.

Focusing on the local Portland theatre scene...
???
Touche, though I at least tried to tie the post back to local theatre!
Like it or not, Cirque du Soleil's success demonstrates that there is a market for excellence and that even Portlanders will shell out $70 (that's the low end!) to see something engaging. (Of course, a zillion-dllar national marketing campaign helps, too, but even that'd be worthless if the product wasn't so damn amazing).
I totally agree, Rusty. Well put.
Can they be human?!
