Eloise and Ray

Integrity Productions
May 29 - June 28, 2008

Review by peanutduck

Ovid, Colorado - dusty, dangerous, where people make trouble to pass the time. Ray exudes barely controlled violence, becoming captivatingly creepy; long-limbed Eloise - gawky desperation. Pearl choreography beautiful. Landscape slow, quiet, but overdone with profusion of pauses; overlapping duologues incoherent; The Actress’s presence ill-fitting. (Actors/resses - tie back hair.)

Scotland Road

Integrity Productions
March 6- April 5, 2008

Review by peanutduck

Teela Labrum carries the production with her bewitching, wide-eyed, piercing manner. Script successfully infuses the world with increasing doubt, leading the audience, and John (Healy), to wonder: Who is really steering this ship? Misses: The Woman’s non-verbal reactions to John’s questions indicate she undoubtedly understands English; Healy might explore subtlety.

8 Views Towards Center

You'll think about this one for days. Fascinating, excellently drawn characters, played to perfection by magnificent ensemble (Kim Bogus the one painful exception). Funny and poignant. No plot or "story," more an exploration of women's role in society - if that's not your bag, stay home. Viewpoints "poses" distracting and unnecessary.

Private Lives

Integrity Productions
Posted by Followspot March 16, 2007; closes March 18, 2007

Integrity ups its game with tag-team casting: clever, commendable, outside-the-box machination that occasionally, though inconsistently, clicks; frequently left anticipating next swap so much as to downplay story altogether. Overlaid backstory unclear. Bombastically sketchy parlay doesn’t pare Coward quippy pith. Lovely period movie set, but no idea of connection to play.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

Brundog Productions & Integrity Productions

**Note: Based on Preview**

Authentic staging of an Oregon original. Kesey’s haunting meditation on loss of native culture and the dangers of rebellion pulses through this meticulously conceived show. Interlocking pieces and performances work together as one. Moving: Chief’s shimmering visions. Missing: Full glimpse of the awesome Combine. Mighty: Alder’s McMurphy, set. O Celilo!

The Odd Couple

Integrity Productions
June 9, 2006; closes July 2, 2006

A faint breeze through an otherwise stale, old-school script (Sex and the City this isn’t), sometimes evoking more pity than pith, doggedly dodging signature Neil Simon ricochet until the second act, wherein John San Nicolas and Casey McFeron – with high energy and impeccable timing – are hilarious as the Costazuela brothers.

Going to St. Ives

Integrity Productions
March 3, 2006; closes April 2, 2006

What’s interesting is that the cast has certain something I’d like to see somewhere else because this, as a whole, didn’t work. Why this story? How does one create believable encounter with motivation, relationship, stakes — and, yes, action — instead of slow, dull, lifeless dialogue? One actor inexplicably still on book.

Alice in Bed

Integrity Productions
November 25, 2005; closes December 11, 2005

Choreographed prologue peaked my curiosity, after which I quickly lost interest, became confused. I never understood what was going on, why it was happening, how I should relate, what I should feel. Raw materials were there, but director might have improved production with clearer, more succinct construct. Show the story.
