Ursula

Our Shoes are Red/TASO/IFCC **Photo credit: Matt Montero**
September 11 - October 3, 2009

Review by peanutduck

White-garbed virginity, a singled-minded, terrorized ensemble that emanates danger in a footfall, encounters a tempter dripping verbal and physical carnality, who attracts while simultaneously repulsing. Even with its flaws – a lackluster Ursula and improbable (as staged) collusion – the danger, commitment, and risk onstage thrills beyond productions more polished. Experience this.

Hansel und Gretel

IFCC (PSU SOAP and TASO)
July 31 - August 15, 2009

Summary:

Humperdinck’s classic retelling of the Grimm’s brothers’ fairy tale takes us into the dark woods of the Ilsenstein Forest, where a host of angels, fairies, and a sandman are not enough to protect Hansel and Gretel from the evil, nibbling, child-devouring Gingerbread Witch.

4.48 Psychosis

TASO
January 31 - February 9, 2008

Summary:

In the final play by Sarah Kane, 4.48 Psychosis, a woman comes to terms with her desire to die. Masterfully written, this full length play spirals downward leading to the destruction of a mind, the display of which is both captivating and haunting. First produced at the Royal Court Theatre.

Guest Review

Avant-Garde Theater piece based on absurdist principles rather than on traditional plot. Many Russian theatre references - brush up your Chekhov before you go. Anna Zimmerman is stunningly vulnerable as Nina. Aime' Kelly has three heads. Seriously. Engaging work if you like that sort of (absurdist) thing. Raffle winner gets kisses.
