Wicked cut and thrust between fashionable lesbian couple in late 1800s Boston had lots of incisive wordplay, though this seething production offered more battle than banter. No wonder these two women sought extra-marital affairs, one with a male “protector,” the other with a young girl ... the two surprisingly related.
