Subtle gem from unusual rock of campy crap proves itself by handling language of melodrama with remarkable ease, though its cut was occasionally dull around the edges. Laura Fay Smith was outstanding in title role of period play based on Henry James’ novel Washington Square, as were Elizabeth Wright’s costumes.
