Stale Wonderbread musical: soft, sweet, filling, but not necessarily that good for you. Simple yet poorly constructed and now clichéd plot with irrelevant though occasionally catchy tunes. Innocuous mugging of local wannabes delivers feel-good community-building, but little catharsis. Parody of either itself or the 1920s might’ve added a fresh layer.
