Annie Warbucks

Tin Pan Alley
July 13 - August 9, 2008

Review by peanutduck

Be prepared to ignore the lighting, set, projections, terrible acoustics...and Annie. Instead, focus on the gem performers, of which there are a surprising number, from scene-stealing Sandy (Willow), to the Commissioner (Kimball) and Mrs. Kelly (Shaw), to pig-tailed orphan Pepper (Haroldson). Overall, an odd blend of professional and what-were-they-thinking show.

We went to the opening night performance and were blown away by the excellent casting! Hayley Rousselle
did a great depiction of Annie and can sing as well. Ron Harmon made a super Daddy Warbucks actor and singer. Kari Virding, 2007 Miss Oregon, was perfectly cast as Grace, Daddy Warbucks' secretary. We recommend this show for everyone, young or old!!

First off last night we left a comment for the play Annie, I found out today we put the comment in the Pippin section. We did not take our 4 year old grandughter to Pippin!
My wife and I lived for a short time in SoCal had had the opportunity to see Michael Crawford in the Phantom and a few other plays there and in New York. I have been spoiled by the opportunities to see great plays.
My wife and I and my grandughter thought Annie was great.
Annie and the Commisioner were our favorites but the whole cast did a great job. The band I could have taken home. Nice job! Seating is great even in the back; bring a sweater, I was fine but my wife could have used one.

Annie was a wonderful introduction to theatre for my pre-teens. They enjoyed the evening.
All the cast members were good. We especially liked "Annie" and the southern "Reverend".
Our only complaint was that the orchestra was a little loud at the end of some songs. I'm glad the actors wore microphones so we could hear every word.
Great show...take the family.

We loved the show. My two daugthers could not stop laughing, they personally enjoyed Mrs. Doyle and Grace. My favorites were Senator Vandenberg, Ella Patterson, and David Lillianthal. The whole cast was great. Ensemble added a nice touch. Thank you so much for a great show. Cant wait for Pippen:)
