You will be amazed, breathless, in total awe for 2 hours during BagnBaggages performance of Romeo and Juliet. It is outdoor theatre at it's very finest. Scott Palmer has done it once again with his beautiful adaptation of the Bard!! It truly is one not to be missed this summer!!

Has anyone seen this? Are they getting audiences? $18 to see an outdoor show with amateurs seems a bit steep. Plus you can't bring any outside food or drink. They'll sell it to you, so it's more like $25 when you can bring a picinic basket to PAE and enjoy a similar experience for free. Just curious to know if it's working our for them

Bag and Baggage pays better than most theaters in town.

Where do you get the idea the actors are amateurs?

Especially compared to PAE, who have great energy and a fun product, but barely pay their actors?

I'm planning to see it. This group does highly polished, quality work. You couldn't pay me to sit through another godawful PAE show.

Went to the show on Saturday and there were about 150 people there, a little low for a Sat. night, but it was the opening weekend. Good review in the Oregonian today, and the work was high quality. Didn't seem like an amateur show to me, and the posters/flyers say "professional" so I assume they are getting paid.

Saw the show last night and it was great. Costumes, location, actors, fights, everything very, very solid. This is a professional show and worth the $18. There is a wine/beer garden at the space, and the ushers said that no outside food/drink inside due to city of hillsboro permit rules.

No disrespect, we're all mostly amateurs in this town (I'm not trying to open up the old "what constitutes a professional" debate so everyone relax). I'm just saying, there's plenty of outdoor theatre with actors of a similar training and talent level that charge nothing. What does B and B offer that's different? It's just a question.

I saw this show this weekend, and have to say that it is the most polished outdoor theatre I have ever seen. There is nothing amateur about these actors, or the costumes, or the fight choreography. For one, you can actually hear these guys. And they really know how to speak the language. Plus, I was actually moved to tears during several parts - not easy to do with a play that we've all seen and read countless times. In my opinion, Bag and Baggage is the Portland areas best kept secret - well worth $18 inside or out!

I saw the show this weekend and have to say that it is probably the best outdoor theater I have ever seen...anywhere! There is nothing amateur about these actors, or the costumes, or the fight choreography, or the original violin score. For one thing you can hear them, and they can speak the language beautifully. I was actually brought to tears a couple of times during this show - not easy to do with a show that I've seen and read dozens of times. In my opinion Bag and Baggage is the Portland area's best kept secret - indoors and outdoors alike. Well worth $18.

Let's not make this a battle between PAE and B&B. There is room for everyone in Portland. The more competition, the higher the caliber of shows and the more choices for audiences. Saw it tonight and thought this group of actors did a damn fine job ! FYI, this performance space has a very casual atmosphere where you CAN bring food and drink from home. Just remember a blanket because it gets quite chilly after the sun goes down.

I saw the show this evening and was very impressed. The adaptation was smart, fresh and tight. The acting, direction, fight choreography and design were all top notch. Bag & Baggage Productions deserves props for committing to pay all involved better than most other theatres in town, and uphold requirements of qualified education and experience of the talent they hire. This is a company with operation and quality of a truly professional level. Great job!
