If I Ran the NEA

"As the president prepares to name a new NEA chief, we asked people from the arts and other fields to share what their priorities would be if they ran the cultural agency." -- LA Times continued...

If Neil LaBute had his way, children would examine "the sex lives of insects cited in the works of Marlowe and Shakespeare"; Albee would dismantle the "Edifice Complex"; and Eve Ensler would unleash the brave ones. You?

I'd like to see someone who's focused on not only supporting the arts, but defining them for the current and next generations - someone who will work to promote the arts as a necessity in daily life, rather than a luxury for rich people or something important for kids (but not necessarily adults).
