Alice in Wonderland

Review by peanutduck (Feb 14th matinee)

Oft incomprehensible "Best Of" edition of Alice in Wonderland, crammed into 90 minutes. Script has plenty of middle; no beginning, end…or even a rabbit hole. Singers unheard over jazz ensemble; exception: Red Queen’s rousing and Dormouse's gentle solos, both of which expose show’s clever lyrics. Alice spiritless; costumes an eyesore.

This show is closing with not one comment. I know lots of people saw it. Is it a case of not being able to 'say anything nice'? Kids seemed restless throughout the show. There were some amusing moments but overall not an engaging show. Some nice tunes by the musicians tho. Good effort but just does not come together.

i saw it closing weekend and loved it. loved the costumes, absolutely loved the music and felt truly 'down the rabbithole' in ways that others productions of the material haven't. physicality and energy compensated for occasional moments when i couldn't make out lyrics (those acoustics are tough...). beautiful final moment.
