Rabbit Hole

Artists Repertory Theatre

February 12 - March 23, 2008

Review by The Mad Hatter

Brilliantly acted gripping drama. Almost everyone in the audience profoundly affected. Slightly out of sync at the top of show, actors quickly found their groove. Type of story where audiences are uncomfortable because they identify with characters’ obtuse behaviors. Profound humor only punctuates terrible tragedy of loss.

The set was unbelievable. Very interactive and functional.

My only major complaint with the show was a single moment during the scene with the young kid and Becca, when she suddenly breaks down into tears. I don't know if it was just tonight's fluke, but it was one of the worst stage cries I have ever heard. It kind of ruined the remainder of the show for me.

Susannah Mars was fantastic. The issue having hit a bit close to home, her brilliant portrayal kept me in tears throughout the show.

Also appreciated was Adrian Flagg's comedic relief. She was wonderful as the 'dances to her own drums' pregnant sister of the grieving mother.

Artist's rep once again delivered a phenomenal performance. I am a huge fan.
