One of the better shows I've seen in a long time! The cast does a fine job with the comedy which makes the serious moments seem all the more real. Suzanne Owens-Duvall gave a stand out performance. Too bad it has closed, this is one you wouldn't want to miss.

Maybe that should be: "wouldn't have wanted. . . "?

I might have considered seeing this show, but I got so much pdxbackstage spam from them that it rather turned me off.

Oh, well, that's a righteous, mature, and fair-minded basis on which to decide whether a show's worth seeing. I'm sure the director, actors, and techies who did not have anything to do with the posts to pdxbackstage appreciate your attitude. For all the bitching and moaning that goes on here about theater critics, I gotta say there seem to be an awful lot of people who post here in a way that suggests they could not do half so well.

...besides, and most importantly, if you want to increase your largitude, go see seascape ;)

I saw this show and was incredibily disappointed. I had heard some great things about some of the shows across the river but was not impressed. I think for the first time I really saw how badly a show can turn out without a good director. There was no through line to this show, the actors kinda wondered around, and there was definitely no point, or theme expressed. I thought that both male actors were showboated their way through that performance - no subsance, just looking for laughs. I've also subsequently heard that there was some actor abuse that occurred - blocked being changed mid-run, no off book date, only a minimual rehearsal run, no tech - sounds like a nightmare. I'm just sorry it wasn't a better performance and I'm sorry to hear that the folks in the show weren't treated better.

Abuse is a pretty strong word to throw around...perhaps lack of professionalism or flaky director and ineffectual stage manager might be more suitable? Or are you suggesting verbal or physical abuse actually occurred?
