Good

Sojourn Theatre
Closes July 8, 2007

Fast-changing formats keep audience following (literally) story forward. Physical gathering around action mimics our desire to see further. Disarmingly smooth execution masks extensive preparation of space. First rate lighting creates an almost film-like heightened aesthetic, especially in noir segment. Feels like signature Portland work. Put the key in and drive.

Incredible ensemble work. Beautifully staged. An amazing film noir lighting moment. One of the most engaging and inspiring pieces of theater I've seen. Ever.

i thought that sojourn was going to call it quits? I am excited to see that they are still doing original works. I have to go see this.

from a Sojourn associated artist- sojourn is definitely not calling it quits- though the artistic director is taking a 2 year appointment in chicago, he will be back and forth, and, the company has a very active slate coming up- new work in Chicago, DC, Connecticut, some touring, and a new piece in Portland workshopping this summer and going up here in town as a mainstage next Winter led by new associate artist Maureen Towey with script by artistic director Rohd. A shift in the model, but, a strong ensemble and lots brewing, here and abroad.

A stunning, brilliant adaptation of Brecht that cuts to the chase and makes the story immediate, powerful, hilarious, thoughtful and moving. Yes, I've always been a fan of Sojourn's work anyway, but with this play the company hits a new high altogether. Do yourself a favor and make sure you see this show!!

There was an added late night show last night (6/23) and there's a rumor another one's in the offing. Worth calling the company to check it out.

This show was inspiring. It showed what can be done in a different space and style.

More of this, please!
