Hurray for Noises Off!!!!

I don't know. I think they're missing a huge opportunity by not throwing "The Maids" into the center of their season. Right around Christmas.

I´m sure Lakewood produced Noises Off a couple years ago --wasn't it the premiere production in the new stagehouse?

Ooh! Drood! One of my favorites.

But, sadly, I doubt I'll be able to go unless someone I know is in the cast.

Just can't afford it on an actor's salary.

Anonymous- The premiere production in LTC's new stagehouse was "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat." They did, however, do a production of "Noises Off" in recent years.

I would love to see the Third Floor gang take on Noises Off. Do they ever do plays?

I can not bear to hear one more actor gripe about ticket prices.
If you can't/won't pay call the theatre and get an ushering spot and see the show for FREE!!!!!!!!!!

And, dear anonymous, that is generally what I do.

When I tried to contact Lakewood regarding ushering, I received no response. I assumed that they did not use volunteer ushers.

So what's an actor to do?

And why the vitriol? I'm sorry if I offended you.

Boo hoo. If you go to a Lakewood or PCS show, you know it's going to be pricey. If you go to a defunkt or Vertigo show, you know you'll pay far less. I find funny that actors bitch about not being able to see theatre because it's too expensive and then hope that they'll get cast in a PCS or Lakewood show because they pay well. Supply and demand is a simple idea.

And if you look at Lakewood's mission statement, it's pretty clear they are not trying to change the world, just have fun running a business:

Lakewood Center for the Arts and the Lakewood Theatre Company have two distinct goals:

1. The establishment and maintenance of a permanent multi-arts and theatre facility.

2. The sponsorship and coordination of education and cultural programming in visual arts, theatre and community events.

Audiences enjoying the corporation's programming come from the Portland metropolitan area; Vancouver, Washington and the greater Willamette valley.

So, good on ya Lakewood.

I've worked at Lakewood since 1984. I have rarely had trouble getting free seats by ushering, unless I asked long into the run. Go to the B.O. and ask to be on the list; calling in is dicey at best. make an effort and you'll get in.

I call in to Lakewood generally, 3 weeks before the show opens to get an ushering spot, and I have NEVER had a problem. Never.
