Burn This

Profile Theatre Project
January 7, 2006; closes February 12, 2006

A daring story filled with open wounds, leading to examination of emotional scars facing life after death. Respectable performance begins with scratching at scabs, but swelling subsides early in second act, yielding doses of healing perspicuity. Even so, somewhat disheartening to see skilled actors playing typecast roles. Worthy design elements.

  1. I can't find a cast list for this anywhere. Can you/someone assist?

  3. Initially Pale's freight train entrance was hard to integrate. But as the play progressed, and Anna's character emerged, show steadied and got better and better.

Done wrong, this play could feel dated indeed. But this production is definitely worth seing.

I am always amazed at Michael Mendelsohn's versatility. He is funny here - similar to first act of last year's "The Lisbon Traviata" by McNally.

Wilson squeezes in a few good New York parking lines.

"I think I've spent half my adult life looking for a parking spot."

"This (funeral) is very moving, but I'm double-parked."

Profile is having a strong season with Lanford Wilson. This play keeps the momentum going. Next stop, the north coast of "Redwood Curtain".
