What a Season!

May 31, 2005

Whew—119 shows! Some highs, a few lows, lots of “good, but not great.” To celebrate: plentiful opportunities for abundant local talent. To wish for: more producers with balls, directors with vision and audiences of more than 10 people, all willing to invest as heavily as artists. How about you?

definately some good shows this year! "O Lovely Glowworm" and "Amadeus" were a few favorites!

best theatrical experience this year hands down: Liminal's "the Resurrectory."
loved PCS' "O Lovely Glowworm," Sowelu's "Picnic on the Battlefield," and had a ball at Vertigo's "A Devil Inside."

I enjoyed Glowworm immensley for it's originality and daring...but for me hands down Lorca in a Green Dress at the Miracle was pure magic. Everything I love about the theatre in a short 2 hours. I wish they would remount it.

Reading past entries, it’s pretty easy to tell what I liked. More important kudos, however, come from the Drammy Awards, coming up Monday, June 13. The Drammys offer a better cross section than the opinion of this singular FollowSpot operator. But if you still want me to name favorites …

Well, why not? You yourself aren't a committee, and I'm sure your own favorites may vary somewhat from that of theirs. Besides, I found out about this site about a month ago -- and that's A LOT of reading to catch up on!

I enjoyed W! (pointed and funny, even if a bit broad), Lorca In A Green Dress (more from Olga please), Recent Tragic Events (still roaming around in my head), The Libson Traviata (extremely entertaining without breaking any new boundaries), and (just for the pure fun of it) the extremely prolific 3rd Floor's "That's Entertainment?". But yes, a strong a season as we've seen in a while.

Yes, we'd (I'd) still like you to name favorites. It's not followdrammy.com, is it? Lay it on us, followspot!

PLUZZEE, let those who win be worthy. Have been disappointed in the past . . . .great actors, great directors, great productions not being acknowledged? make for drammies to be a joke!!!!!!!!!!

Okay followspot - where's that list?

As followspot is a member of the Drammy committee,I doubt you'll get much more than the already-posted reviews, eh?

Is he/she? I didn't know that, but I guess that makes perfect sense given the number of productions he/she has seen.

still waiting for that list.
