Jealous court composer seeks revenge against God by destroying genius rival. Fascinating story weakened by its narration and playing about three death scenes too long. Despite inherent script problems and uneven cast, gifted Kevin Connell composes forceful rather than sniveling Salieri, making the mediocre mogul’s downfall all the more piteous.
